I forgot to mention the pies. Joan, did you ever have the apple pie? It was something beyond anything I have ever had. God bless them, they will always be missed!
Oh my gosh! The bread! I enjoyed it so much with my homemade split-pea soup! It made it so much better, I can’t believe it is gone!!!
Oh Joan, you are so right! I remember the fresh bread and it was so wonderful! I have looked around for bread that was as good but I have never found it! And those pies, no one who has had one will understand just how wonderful they are. I found so many good things at the store over the years that I have lived her, I willl truly miss it when it when it’s gone….
Have some great memories of that store, the fresh baked little loaves of bread that we would rush home to eat with dinner or a bowl of soup – or those pies!!!
Found clothes there that I loved, their prices were good on groceries, and my dad found stuff there he couldn’t find anywhere else – one I remember was black paint to put on our wood stove – boy did that stink for the next several fires.
