Then cut his salary in half and hire a real business development professional. Then we can balance the economy of this town on more than a thin web of tourist shops and retirement. Neither will support a stable economy. Look at all the retirement areas in the country, Florida, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico. All these places have had issues because tourist don’t spend in a down economy. Seniors watch every cent when they see their portfolios crash and they don’t give them a COLA.
Maybe they should have volunteers run the library with the new chief supervising and use part of the tourism money for the Interpretive center as it is a tourist attraction with volunteers.
