Budget Study Session
Not present, as the all-day study session begins at the Convention Center: councilmen Dave Creighton, Nick Johnson and Mike Patrick. (Jackie Farra is also not present; council member-to-be John Lynn just walked in the room. Update: Farra just arrived.) Mayor Dean Bunkers‘ introduction went over the city’s organizational chart, noting there are now 82 full-time employees (FTE’s), down from 97 in February of 2008, a decrease of just over 15 percent.

A “Budget Study Session”? There is no extra money. You can’t rob Peter to pay Paul. Enough is enough. Where are the staff members that are responsible for working on the budget? I just hope that the right FTE cuts are made to bring the budget into a responsible financial picture to meet the City’s financial obligations. If there is not enough money then cuts need to be made asap.
Budget study session………Does nobody on staff work on budgets?
How can there be a study without the players? I guess we will finally see plan “B”. Can you say Utility? Why not listen to what the people have said in the vote? What will they attach the Utility to? The Storm Drain Utility? Oh, there is a lawsuit impacting that. Water? We have Carillo there. Sewer? That is the next upgrade we will have to make to meet EPA standards. Roads? Probably not. That is a sore subject with many.
