Hotel/Motel tax down
At a Lodging Tax Advisory Committee meeting this morning, Ken Mercer and Art Wuerth said hotel/motel tax revenue will be $75,000 to $125,000 less than the 2009 budget projection of $823,661. “We’re in the hole,” said Mercer, the Convention Center director. “Yeah,” confirmed Wuerth, the finance director, “I think we’re in the hole.” More on this in next week’s paper.

Let’s play the old babble game “who’s on first”? It is getting a little tiresome to hear “they’ll do better next time, now lets move forward”. Not so fast, how about figuring out how to spend less than what you take in? What a concept!
That is 9 to 15 percent off. How about all the other taxes like REET, Sales, Gas, Phone, Utility or the whole host of other ones??
Since no one seems to be good at predicting projected revenue, they should base their spending on last years revenue, then there should not be the overspending that takes place.
