House fire early this a.m.

Structure Fire Response August 25, 2009: At 2:39 a.m. Ocean Shores Fire Department responded to a fully involved 2 story structure fire at 799 Mariner Ct S.E. All occupants were confirmed to be out of the structure, per Ocean Shores Police Department. Fire District’s#7 and #16 also responded to the incident with two engines and a total of 8 personnel. First on scene Ocean Shores Engine Company 7402 began to protect two homes to the north of the fire that were also in danger of catching fire, while attempting to extinguish the fire.
For 11 minutes the Ocean Shores Fire Department fought the blaze with just 3 personnel, until the second Ocean Shores apparatus arrived. Ocean Shores ladder company, 7422, was used to deliver a large volume of water and successfully protected a neighboring home. The fully involved structure and all of its contents is considered a total loss at an estimated value of over $375,000 dollars. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Captain Matt Krick stated “The building was a total loss when we arrived on scene but we were able to save all exposures. The owners were able to make it out of their home safely and none of our fire personnel were hurt; that is success for this type of fire. We had good team effort and I would like to thank our neighboring fire districts to the North and East for their much needed help”.
