Hey … I found your website by mistake. I was searching in Bing for Accounting software that I had already bought when I came upon your site, I must say your website is really informative, I just love the theme, its amazing!. I don’t have the time today to fully read your site but I bookmarked it and also will sign up for your RSS feed. I’ll back around in a day or two. thanks for a great site.
This is a bad situation with no target at which to point the finger of blame. We have had doctors in Ocean Shores before, and they left because the financial situation was bad. I honestly believe Dr Holm came here wanting to make a difference, but faced the same problem. The friends of the clinic worked long and hard to make this a doctor friendly town and cannot be faulted for the work they did.If and when a medical facility exists here, please give the physicians your support. The city cannot step in to support a private enterprize no matter how much we think they should. I as a patient of Dr Holm’s am going to bide my time and hope for the best.
One only needed to see the notice on the front door of the clinic weeks before they went on VACATION. It stated so in the note. It also stated that for many years, I think it was 6 years, he had not had a vacation.
Moreover, he went to see his elderly parents, something that many here should realize the importance of doing.
So, before you cast stones, you should look in the mirror yourself. Do you go on vacation? Do you or did you have elderly parents? I would suspect that the majority of you meet this criteria.
Also, it is a private practice. It is not a public health facility like Grays Harbor Community Hospital.
The other “clinics” around here gets separate government funding if I am correct. If not, then they operate just like Coastal Family Clinic.
Either way, this is a private practice. The city does not support it. They incourage things, but do not provide any funding.
In the current environment of reduced payments for services to Medicare and Medicaid patients, one needs to realize that that is not enough. Some may say he spends too much time with each patient. Well, I for one want a doctor that does not just treat you and street you. If you want that, go see Grays Harbor Community Hospital or the many other doctors that will assign you to a PA or RN rather than see you themselves.
I am sure also that the doctor came here based upon glowing reports of what Ocean Shores offers as an opportunity. The images of the past when it was called the “Richest Little Town” and other statements that do not reflect the true economic situation here.
So, before you say something, look into your mirror and say: “Mirror Mirror on the wall….” You know the rest.
Ah, An ugly subject rears its head once again. Or is it holms ugly head? When are the good folks of Ocean Shores going to wake up and realize that soon there will be no medical assistance here at the beach? Fly as fast as you can to a real and caring doctor in Aberdeen as fast as you can. Soon all of those practices will not be taking new patients either. As for the “friends of the clinic” will they still be supporting holm when he is in his new digs in Montana?
As one Dr. Holm’s patients, I can say that I was not given any information about this. In fact, I say it is time that we patients who are “considered” as one of his “existing patients” of Dr. Holms, (i.e. notice was given in the paper that he was no longer “accepting new patients”), as well as all residents of Ocean Shores ‘need to have ‘public notice’ of exactly what medical services Dr.Holm’s IS providing and WHEN.
–
The population of Ocean Shores is considered as being 4,500; a population that obviously deserves to have a secure medical clinic that can be counted on.
–
We residents of Ocean Shores should demand that
the Ocean Shores City Council should be mandated to take this critical issue up at it’s next meeting and set it as a ‘priority issue’ with a mandated time limit of not more than two months to report to us what they are going to do to get ‘Our Priorities Set and to Cancel all those that do Nothing to enhance the Health and Welfare of the people”.
–
We have been living with this untenable situation for months, if not for years. There have been statements such as Dr. Holm’s, stating he is planning on merging with a “medical corporation” to establish a ‘fully staffed medical facility’ to a grassroots group (“The Friends of Clinic”) who have stated they will support Dr. Holms in whatever he decides to do, while trying to apply for grants, etc. to setup a fully staffed medical clinic, which has apparently not taken place.
–
Are we supposed to wait until we are in an emergency situation then call 9-11 only to be taken to Gray’s Hospital emergency room by our local paramedics (a 20 mile ride) or should we just go ahead and get established with a doctor/s in Aberdeen Before we end up in an Emergency situation?
–
This little City has spent millions of our tax dollars on a Convention Center, which purpose was to make money and clearly is Not. Our tax dollars has clearly Not been spent on the health and welfare of our residents, as evidenced by our still putrid water supply, which Issue still exists after years of blatter, while we have to buy water or drink green algae, which stains are clearly seen in our pets drinking water and toilets.
–
Note: The use of clorine to kill algae in our drinking water is known to cause cancer.
—
BOTTOM-LINE:
Those that have been elected to run this city have failed for years to put “The resident’s Issues First” and instead, have bent over backward to only consider the city’s business owners, many, if not most have had closed their doors due to lack of business most of which were setup for tourism and not the local population who can’t afford their prices.
—
The majority of the population of Ocean Shores are retired with most on ‘fixed incomes’ and are the very people who ‘pay the taxes’ that the City Council use and abuse against the very needs of it’s residents.
–
It is obvious that the residents of Ocean Shores can car-pool the 20 miles to Aberdeen to shop at Walmart and Safeway and save money. It’s clear that it is time that it will be easier to do this while we see our doctors and dentists and we get another water filter for our tap until ‘our so-called elected representatives’ realize that without us spending money in Ocean Shores businesses, there won’t be any businesses here and maybe, just maybe, they will start working ‘FOR US’.
