Second Roundabout, anyone?
How about one at Chance and Ocean Shores Blvd. (just before the Beach Approach)?
Twice in the last week, I’ve seen people going the wrong way on this . . . Confuse-about?
I guess that’s why they call it “Chance” a la Mer . . .

If we are going “Big Time” with our roadways, let’s go all the way.
I read about an automated traffic control system that could prove useful and generate some income for the city.
In order to drive in Ocean Shores, we would either sell (for locals) or rent a traffic control remote for each vehicle. It would sit in the driver’s seat and the entire car would be controlled by big brother’s computer system. All you do is punch in where you want to go and sit back, use your cellphone, smoke, or chat with your buddies.
For those who didn’t want to pay for the device, we could purchase the property by the High School, pave it off and charge for parking.
Just think, no street signs needed, no worry about pedestrians getting hit by a vehicle, no traffic congestion, no speeding, no accidents, etc.
You wouldn’t even need a licensed driver!
WOW !!!
You know, I was just thinking about a roundabout at Chance and Ocean Shores Blvd. I have seen a lot of people not even stopping at that intersection and I have seen a few folks turning left into oncoming traffic.
People will get use to roundabouts. They have them in Oly, Tacoma and Seattle, they have a lot of them back East. The current 4-way stop is a mind game. I look at them, they look at me and no one goes. I’d say that the out of towners have more trouble with the 4-way because of the number and allignment of roads that feed the 4-way. Finally, did you notice that the traffic was backed up to the new firestation on Sunday after the Sand and Sawdust Festival, trying to get out of Ocean Shores.
It was also backed up to the gates from Hogans Corner. Let’s get a roundabout at Hogans Corner also.
what if i don’t want to go “round and about”, just home? are there “special roads” for that too?
I say we need a cloverleaf system installed with money from a grant. We can have one like the Tijuana one that took years and years to build.
Now you’re talking, Ricki!
Only if we can get a grant for it *wink*
The 1st one is lame. How can a roundabout solve anything. If drivers can’t make the right decision on how to enter the intersection after they stop, how safe are we if they don’t have to think about it? Just barrel on thru with no thought. A 2nd one… ludicrous! There will be no traffic flow. The roads will be blocked by fender benders.
I can’t wait to see a semi truck and trailer, a motor home, and a 5th wheel trailer along with a few cars at the same time in our round about. This will be quite interesting.
Ha! I love watching people in the Roundabouts. Everytime someone gets stuck I am reminded of National Lampoons European Vacation – Clark Griswold: [Reapedly saying it while he can't turn left] Hey look kids, there’s Big Ben, and there’s Parliament.
Anyhow, people always have problems with Roundabouts, unless you are use to them and you understand their design and purpose. Of course what truly kills me is the fact that when you reach the center, people expect you to yeild yet again before continuing your turn. C’est la vie
NO, in fact, don’t even think about it!
One roundabout is one too many! Don’t encourage them
