July 7, 2004
It was the biggest 4th of July holiday weekend in memory for local police and emergency personnel. The Ocean Shores Fire and Emergency Care Department was overwhelmed at one point. Sunday night they called for three additional wildlife fire engines, which never came, and additional ambulances from Hoquiam.
The local community radio station sponsored by the City of Ocean Shores KOSW is now broadcasting at 91.3 FM between the hours of 7 am and 7pm.
It failed by only 55 votes last fall and backers of an initiative to change the form of government in Ocean Shores are back at it again, collecting the signatures necessary to put it back on the ballot again this fall.
July 7, 1999
The largest earthquake to hit the Northwest in more than 30 years was felt from British Columbia to Oregon last Friday night. The earthquake which measured 5.5 on the Richter Scale hit at 6:43 pm, and was centered a few miles north of Satsop.
A 48 year old Ocean Shores woman was killed along Highway 109, near Hogan’s Corner, Saturday night in an apparent hit and run.
The recipients of the 2nd annual Ocean Shores North Beach Elks Lodge #2581 Ben Martinez Scholarship Award were Justin McGregor who was selected to receive a $500 scholarship and Brad Chitwood who received a $250 scholarship
July 7, 1989
The Point Brown Interpretive Center invites one and all to come down to take a look at their exhibits and f information center. The Center focuses on Point Brown from the days the Chehalis Indians lived on the peninsula to the construction of the North Jetty, and on up to the present.
A restaurant liquor permit was issued to Bill and Nellie Jenkins who own the Captain’s Galley restaurant. Barnacle Bill’s Chowder House in Ocean Shores has been issued a class H license allowing the restaurant to serve liquor by the drink for on premises consumption.
Mike McGregor has just completed a 200 mile bicycle race, and is soon off on another one. The local proprietor of McGregor Insurance in Ocean Shores biked the full 200 miles in the 10th annual Seattle to Portland Bike Ride.

The Ocean Shores Community Club will hold an arm wrestling tournament at 2 pm August 9th at the Bayshore Club. It will be open to all ages and all weight classes. In addition there will be a man’s and woman’s division.
