Fire last night
From the Ocean Shores Fire Department:
At 11: 38 p.m. on June 2, the Ocean Shores Fire Department and Fire District 7 were dispatched to Park Ave N.E. for a garage fire with smoke visible. The first engine on scene saw a large amount of smoke coming from an unattached garage structure approximately 24X30. Smoke was also coming from the roof line indicating rapid fire growth and active burning. A quick attack was made by first on scene crews by forcing the garage door open and initiating an aggressive fire attack. Ocean Shores Ladder Company 7422 along with Fire District 7 personnel performed ventilation and cut a hole in the roof to release all the heat, smoke and gases. All occupants were out of the nearby house and safe. Ocean Shores Police Department did a great job of scene control and made sure that all occupants of the home were evacuated. Crew’s were on scene for over 2 hours managing the incident. There was a family with small children living in the house. Ocean Shores Fire Department’s Captain Krick stated “This could have been much worse if fire had spread to the house. The quick response time definitely paid off . No one was injured and everyone is safe. That is what is mportant” .The cause of the blaze is still under investigation at this time. Damage is estimated at approximately $10,000.
