Thanks John.
At least I saw the rope and thought it was ball shaped. There was an orange one there about a week ago. I do not know if that is still there. I only went by the picture and choices on the question. You never know if they will say that your answer was not responsive to the question. You know how Tom tries to test us at times. I have also found small round plastic floats on the beach. That is why I figured that it was simply a ball float.
Close but no bananna,
It is a standard bullet shaped float. The line runs through the float longways with a knot on each end to keep it in position on the line. You are looking at the pointed end of the float.
These are used extensively as crab pot floats and the color and a number or letter set identify the owner.
And, yes, they do collect them that close in at high tide.
I think Randy Peck is right
A ball with a rope through it. It has barnicles on one side too.
It’s gotta be a frogman!
