The Tennis Association has its annual Spring meeting, a Pot Luck, Thursday night April 30 at the Community Club, 5:30 – 7:30. The summer program and dates will be set then.
May 5
There will be a meeting of the NORTH BEACH COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION on Tuesday, May 5. It will be at the Fire District #7 Hall in Ocean City and will start at 6 PM. The community needs your support to grow. Questions? Call Phyllis Shaughnessy at 276-4503 or 289-2971.

A Garden by the Sea- A Community Garden Project extends their warmest invitation to all community members to attend the Groundbreaking Ceremony for this exciting Community Garden Project. The Groundbreaking happens on Saturday, May 9th at 12:00 noon at 824 Ocean Shores Blvd, Ocean Shores. Just behind the Galilean Lutheran Church. Join us for a short ceremony, that will be followed by music, plot rental sign up, with hotdogs and hamburgers served up by Young Life (donations cheerfully accepted!) and ice cream and root beer floats provided by the Lions Club. The Garden by the Sea- A Community Garden is dedicated to the development of relationship through people growing garden fresh food while addressing hunger. The Ocean Shores/North Beach Chamber of Commerce, along with the Ocean Shores IGA and Murphy’s Ice Cream, will sponsor the 6th Annual Food Bank Benefit on Tuesday, May 12 at the Convention Center.
Attendees will enjoy a gourmet pasta feed created by local chef, Stan
Phillips, followed by a plant auction. Guests are encouraged to bring house
and garden plants of all sizes and varieties to be auctioned by local
celebrity, John Campbell
Tickets are $10 and are available at the chamber office and the Visitor’s Information Center. Proceeds will benefit the Ocean Shores Food Bank. For more information, call 289-2451.

The Museum of the North Beach is getting ready for its 8th annual
Memorial Day weekend garage sale. This yearly event has become one of the largest garage sales on the North Beach if not all of Grays Harbor County. In 2008, the museum took in nearly $7,000.00 – a record breaker!
If you would like to donate good used (or new) items to this sale, please call the museum at 360-276-4441 or by email at kelly@moclips.org. Most items can be accepted at the museum but because we lost our usual warehouse for storage, we
cannot take large furniture or big appliances unless you can deliver to the sale. We
also cannot accept computers as they do not sell.
This huge garage sale runs from Saturday thru Monday, May 23, 24 & 25, 10am to 4pm. Location is at the North Beach Community Center (fire station) just of S.R. 109 in Pacific Beach.

The North Beach Master Gardeners and the Ocean Shores Friends of the Library are putting their skills and efforts together for a joint Plant Sale this Spring. There will be hundreds of plants: hanging baskets, ground covers, tubers, bulbs, shrubs, edible fruits, grasses, roses, and herbs, including sage, chives, parsley, thyme, rosemary, water lillies, plus combinations of plants in ready to set out planters.
We are also seeking donations of pots and plants for the sale. For pickup or to deliver your donations, call 289-1211.
The Master Gardeners will also share their expertise with advice on the care and feeding of plants you already have or how to get the most out of your new purchases.
This huge plant sale will be held Saturday, May 23, 9 am to 3 pm. at the Ocean Shores Library parking lot.

•Seated Exercise Class for All Adults The North Beach Good Neighbor Senior Center, 885 Ocean Shores Blvd., N.W. Mon., Tues., Wed., & Thurs. from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A voluntary fee of $1 per session is asked to help pay for equipment and instruction.
This class is good for all adults with osteoporosis, arthritis, fibromyalgia, diabetes and neuropathy.
•The Ocean Shores Citizens for Balanced Growth (OSCBG) guides folks on Weatherwax tours every Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 589-5116 to reserve a tour.

•Lunch/breakfast
North Beach Senior Good Neighbor Center, 885 Ocean Shores Blvd. serves lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday and breakfast from 8:30 to 11 a.m. every Sunday.
•The Ocean Shores Lions Club needs your used cell phones. The phones will be donated to the Domestic Violence Council to be configured so they only 9-1-1 . The council is an agency with an office in Aberdeen. The phones will be distributed to vulnerable individuals for use in case of emergency. If you have a charger, please include it. Thank you for your support. Phones may be deposited at the IGA store.

•The Ocean Shores Food Bank is located next to the Anchor Avenue Thrift Store at 846 Anchor Avenue in Ocean Shores. The Food Bank distribution days are the first and third Thursdays of every month. The hours of operation are 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
On days when the Food Bank is not open, individuals or families who are in need of emergency food assistance may contact the Anchor Avenue Thrift Store located at 848 Anchor Avenue. The Thrift Store is open Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
•The Ocean Shores Lions Club invites you to their meetings every 2nd and 4th Thursdays in the Harry Thompson Lions Building on Ocean Shores Blvd. at noon. If you would like to know what Lions do for our North Beach Community stop in and visit with us. The building is available for private and non profit use. •The WSU Master Gardeners are Raffling a 23” by 21” Outdoor Pot, entitled, “Maceta del Mar” or “Pot of the Sea,” donated by Tonala Mexican Imports at 729 Pt. Brown Ave., Ocean Shores. The pot retails for $129.00 and is a rich brown with molded seashells and sea creatures on a band around the middle.
The Master Gardeners will donate half the proceeds to the Ocean Shores Friends of the Library. Tickets are $1 each. The Pot is on view at the Library.
The drawing will be Memorial Day Weekend Saturday, May 23, 2009.
•Tennis Anyone!
Almost any day, when the courts are dry, you will find members of the North Beach Tennis Association on the tennis courts enjoying this great sport. Most of the activity is at the tennis courts at North Bay Park or at Emerson Park on Bass Ave.
NBTA usually have 3 Round Robin tournaments with a Barbeque and Pot Luck in the Summer. They also sponsor a summer long tournament in which participants set their own times to play their matches.
If you are interested in joining NBTA you will find information posted at the courts, in the Visitor’s Center at the Convention Center, in the Chamber and in the Permit Center. Applications can be obtained at the Visitors Center or phone Luanne Anderson at 289 4206.
The initiation fee to join is $25. for an individual and $35. for a family. This includes one Tee shirt or Sweat shirt and the first years dues. The following years the dues are $10. per individual and $20. per family.
•Ocean Shores Women’s 9 Hole Golf Association plays Wednesdays at 9:15am. Yearly dues are $20. The weekly cost is

•Benefits Advisor
The North Beach Senior Resource Center and the Olympic Area Agency on Aging has added a service for the North Beach Residents of all ages. A Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) is at the center every 1st and 3rd Thursday from 12:00 – 2:00. If you have questions about Medicare and Health Insurance supplements and/or children’s health insurance contact the center at 289-3352 or drop in.
•The Ocean Shores Friends of the Library meet on the 2nd Monday of the month at 2 p.m. in the Library Meeting Room. Visit and see what we’re all about.

•The Ocean Shores Friends of the Library and the North Beach Master Gardeners are asking for donations of pots and plants for their Huge Plant Sale scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend Saturday 9 – 3 at the Library south parking lot. • The Copalis Community Church Food Bank is located in the parking lot of the church, 3140 State Route 109. We are open EVERY Wednesday from 1:30 to 5:30. We serve over 120 families weekly. Donations are always gladly accepted as we go through an amazing amount of food every week. We also have a clothing/household items distribution area where clients can ‘shop’ at no cost for items they need. •The Friends of the Library is asking for donations of good useable items for its fundraiser Collectibles and Garage Sale. Both happening Memorial Day Weekend. No clothes or large appliances, please. Donations are tax deductible. The Sales benefits the Ocean Shores Library programs and expansion fund. They are also looking for a few good pots for their joint Plant Sale, also on Memorial Day Weekend.

If you love animals and have an hour and a half to spare each week helping out at the shelter, taking care of the dogs or cats, please give us a call! We need more volunteers! •Scrabble For The Fun Of It Mondays 1 p.m. at North Beach Senior Center. All adults are invited to join for a game of Scrabble, have fun, and meet new people.
•The Ocean Shores Yacht Club gets together monthly at various restaurants and clubs for meetings and friendship. We are a social club and try to give back to the community by volunteering our boats and selves for things like the kids fishing derby that was held this last summer, the flag day parade with a float and on the 4th of July with a colorful boat parade on Duck Lake. New members are always welcome.

The Ocean Shores Action Committee for Tourism (ACT) meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 1:30 PM in the Jetty Room of the Convention Center.
We plan, organize, and sponsor family-oriented events designed to bring tourists to our city.
If you are interested in helping with this endeavor or have ideas or suggestions, you are welcome to attend. There are no dues or fees. Information: 360-289-5632.

Meets every Friday at 2 p.m. at the Ocean Shores Library. We work with Grays Harbor Community Hospital Diabetes Education Team. Our goals are to improve Health, Increase Energy and Help people Lose Weight. For information call Michael Rosencrans 289-3176.
