Leonard Harju

Leonard M. Harju, a resident of the North Beach since 1978, died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at his home at Hogan’s Corner. He was 93.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 4, at the Galilean Lutheran Church in Ocean Shores.

Cremation arrangements are by Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.

Berniece O. (Newberry) Lawty

Centralia: Former Harborite Berniece O. (Newberry) Lawty of Centralia died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, in Centralia. She was 88.

She and her husband, Norval, founded Harbor McCulloch Sales, which they operated until they both retired. Following retirement, they moved to Ocean Shores and operated Playtime Inc., a family amusement business featuring go-karts and bumper cars.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 27, at the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam. Interment will follow at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.
