Internet Scams 

12/30/08 

 We continue to receive reports of Ocean Shores residents accepting unsolicited counterfeit cashier’s checks from people they do not know, or may have only met online.  This is a common scam being perpetrated globally.  If someone sends  an unsolicited cashier’s check, or overpays for an item sold online, and then asks to have the overage sent back to them, or someone else, it is likely a scam.
